Creating an Elicitation Corpus

Are you bilingual in your native language and English? If so, you can help researchers learn more about the grammar of your native language. In this task, English sentences are presented along with contextual information to elicit translations which reveal underlying grammatical features of a language such as tense, plural, and gender. These pairs of translated sentences not only provide grammatical information relevant for linguistic research, but will also result in a bilingual data set that can be used to build machine translation systems. This task uses the Elicitation Corpus created at Carnegie Mellon University’s Language Technologies Institute.
